In 2003 I was involved in a serious car accident that left me paralyzed from the chest down. After a long career racing motocross starting at 9 years old, I wasn’t ready to call it quits on my days as an athlete. After several hard years of rehab I was walking full time and looking for a new adventure. That’s where I found cycling. Cycling had started simply as part of my rehab process, but quickly turned into an obsession and than a career. Since 2009 I’ve earned several National Championships, been a member of US Paralympics Track and Road World Championships Teams, won a few UCI World Cup races and the UCI World Cup overall series. As well as competing in USAC and UCI elite level races all over the world.
Topical Edge has created a new interesting challenge for me. I am a very data driven athlete and know my power numbers and heart rate inside and out. With Topical Edge I am running in a bit of a new "challenge" in that I'm finding my numbers are changing for the better and it's fun to be finding new limits. — Matt
